Iberia increases its capacity for flights to the Dominican Republic by 20% for the winter season

In the schedule of the Spanish airline for the upcoming winter season, the significant growth in the route connecting Madrid with Santo Domingo is notable.

Iberia will increase the frequency of its flights by 8 weekly in November, 10 in December, and 11 in January. In January and February, the frequency will remain at 10 per week. As a result, this will lead to an increase in the seat capacity that Iberia will have for this route, all during the period between October 2024 and March 2025.

Additionally, according to the data provided by the company, this winter season in Europe will see around 125,000 seats on this route to the Caribbean. Consequently, this represents a 20% increase compared to last year’s figures and a 50% increase compared to 2019. However, the total deployment of the company in 2024 amounts to around 230,000 seats on the routes connecting Europe to the Caribbean, with an 11% rise.

Iberia introduces the new Premium Economy cabin

Beyond the notable growth in seats between the two capitals, another of the new features that the airline has for this winter is the incorporation of A330-300 aircraft on this route. These state-of-the-art planes offer approximately a 15% reduction in fuel consumption compared to previous aircraft.

In this way, these new aircraft (which replace the A330-200) offer a greater number of seats and provide customers traveling between Spain and the Dominican Republic with the new Premium Economy cabin. With a minimal price increase, passengers on this route will enjoy more comfortable, spacious seats, larger screen sizes, greater recline capacity, and more legroom. Additionally, Iberia is completely renewing the onboard experience, offering, among other things, meals served on tableware. The company will operate between Madrid and Santo Domingo up to five times a week with the new A330-300 aircraft.
